About Us
Ayurveda is an ancient Indian life science dated back to 5000 years and is also called sister science of Yoga. Due to it’s great benefits for health and overall wellness it’s widely practiced in India and is slowly gaining popularity worldwide.
Ojus is a Sanskrit word that means essential fluid of life and as a company we aim to incorporate ancient practices into our everyday life.
The Founder of Ojus, Jugnu, grew up in India where she has had a deep involvement of Ayurveda in her day to day activities and understands the importance of reconnecting with the old ways and not to invent.
Her stories and knowledge from India have now made their way to Melbourne where we lovingly handcraft our products in small batches with all natural ingredients.
The Backstory by our Founder
“Growing up I would always see my Grandmother busy in the kitchen preparing Ayurvedic potions from hair oil to hair wash; everything was made from scratch using Ayurvedic principles.
As a child this didn’t make any sense to me and why we didn’t just buy ready-made products from the store. My Grandmother said to me “you don’t realise the beauty of my actions now, but once you grow up you will decide for yourself whether I was right or wrong”.
Years later, as an adult I realised that my family never experienced hair fall or any other common hair and skin issues. The secret was sticking to their roots .My Grandmother was right, and from that time on her devotion to Ayurveda made a strong mark on my heart.”
How It All Started
Lots of Love to my grandma. Thanks for teaching me the way of life the right way
AYURVEDA & US
Ayurveda is the world’s oldest documented body of knowledge for physical, medical, spiritual and psychological wellbeing. Dating back to over 5000 years, this ancient practice was compiled and written into text by legendary physician Charaka in second century B.C
Ayurveda focuses on the balance between life, body and soul. In Sanskrit “Arīrendriya satvātmā saṃyogo” means the union of Sareera (Body), Indriya (Sensory Organs), Sattva (Mind) and Atma (Soul).
The human body is made up of elements and has three basic streams of life within:
Doshas (Body Humours), Dhatus (Tissue) and Malas (Impurities). Wellness in Ayurveda is the kingpin where and outward beauty is a representation of inner well-being. One whose Doshas, Dhatus and Malas are in the state of equilibrium and who has cheerful mind, intellect and sense organs is “Swastha” (Healthy).
The main doshas (body humours) are Vata, Pitta and Kapha and these represent the five elements in Ayurveda called Panchamahabhutas (space, air, fire, water and earth). These elements manifest in the human body as three basic humours or bioenergetic forces known as ‘Tridoshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha). The creation, maintenance and destruction of body (tissues) as well as their assimilation and elimination are governed by them.
